Coding and Data Storing

Data storage is the use of electromagnetic or optical media to store digital information for future operations or ongoing. This can include files on a computer hard drive or on backup devices like tapes or Edison cylinders (see photo). This data is often stored for disaster recovery, and to facilitate restoration after a cyberattack or a system crash.

Coding is the process of writing instructions for computers or other machines to accomplish a specific task. Coding coding and data storing is carried out by using a variety of « programming language » based on human languages. The code is translated into what’s known as machine code. Machine code is a series of zeroes and ones often referred to as binary numbers. People who write the instructions are referred as coders or programmers.

Rarely do you find a company, or an industry that does not employ some form of programming or coding. Coding is a necessary skill for nearly all jobs, and is an integral part of modern life. It is a rapidly growing field that has become one of the most sought-after skills around the world.

If you’re interested in learning to code, you should begin with a text editor like Notepad++ or Sublime Text. You can also try VS Code, Emacs, or VS Code. These editors offer a wide range of features to aid beginners to learn to code with color coding, auto-complete, search and replace, dark mode and many more. It is also a good idea to get familiar with the console (or terminal) which is the text-based interface of your operating system. This lets you perform tasks much faster than you can with the standard GUI.
